The 21st Century Elf Rocks Sesame Street

I may be a curmudgeon when it comes to Christmas cheer and all of that kind of thing, but I have to admit, I’m sort of in love with Sesame Street.

Ever since Sesame Street first aired in 1969 I’ve watched it religiously.  Everyone laughs at me, but I know everything there is to know about Sesame Street, probably because I can relate. Honest to goodness, I think it’s the Muppets that I love the most.  I mean, look at Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch; they are absolutely great for an ego boost.  Look at them!  Next to monsters like Oscar, I’m actually good looking!  So when the Workshop started promoting the Sesame Street Let’s Rock! Elmo Santa nearly had a heart attack when I volunteered to lead the promotion.

Let’s get one thing straight, I am NOT a team player.  I run with scissors.  I don’t play well with others.  I’ve even been known to bite the hand that feeds me and I NEVER volunteer for Christmas campaigns.  With this one exception.

The Sesame Street Let’s Rock! Elmo is probably the best thing that Sesame Street has put out since the Tickle Me dolls that were so popular a decade ago.  Those toys were so popular in stores that we couldn’t keep up with the demand.  I kid you not, I think that the Let’s Rock! Elmo is going to see the same kind of demand.

I worked overtime on that Tickle Me campaign, and I’m working hard on this one as well.  You’ll see, it’s going to be the hottest thing for the pre-school set this Christmas.  In fact, I’ll probably get a commendation, which is not a normal kind of thing for me.

Let’s face it; Elmo has been popular since he was first introduced.  Maybe it’s his bright red fur and goggling eyes, or maybe it’s his fun loving nature and addictive giggles, but all kids seem to like Elmo.  This Elmo is a little bit different.  First off, Elmo is dressed to rock and roll!  And that’s appropriate, because the Let’s Rock Elmo is really a one man band.

Not only does this Elmo have a microphone (which can be used either by Elmo or his owner), he also has a tambourine and a kickin’ drum set.  But not only does Elmo sing and play all these songs, he’s also an interactive toy and the child who plays with it will be thrilled that Elmo will play along with them when they play the music too.

So don’t sweat your Christmas list this year.  If you’ve got a pre-schooler to buy for, the Let’s Rock! Elmo is the perfect choice.  Fresh from Santa’s workshop it will be an immediate hit, and for every one sold I’ll probably get a gold star or something, so Ho Ho Ho; it’s off to the mall you should go!
