If there is anything sappier than a toy that is sold with a story to capture children’s hearts, I want to know what it is so that I can hunt it down and put it out of my misery. I know for certain that the hoards of Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Dolls that have been roaming the Workshop these last few months are definitely silly enough to put Barbie out of business.

Okay, for the record, the “magical story” goes something like this: These dolls were once cute, but ordinary rag dolls, but once the last stitch was sewn they came to life and acquired personalities depending on the kind of fabric they were made out of. Yes, I know, it’s enough sugary sap to send you straight into sugar shock, but that doesn’t change the fact that young children seem to love them! Seriously!
From Crumbs Sugar Cookie (made from the apron of a baker) to Jewel Sparkles and any other of the other girls, each of these Silly Hair dolls has strong, pliable hair that can be bent into any style that a child can imagine. From a straight-up Mohawk to cutesy little girl curls, the Silly Hair Dolls seem to have a personality all their own, which probably accounts for their popularity, especially among the younger female set.

Of course these dolls also come with special “tools” to help you style their hair, as well as clips and beads to hold the hair in whatever fashion you can imagine. But that’s not all, some of these Silly Hair Dolls also come with pets, like a mouse with yellow ears and a twirly black tail (a tail that you can style to match the Silly Hair Doll of course).
Any reasonable adult who takes a good look at these dolls will find themselves why they could possibly be so popular; but watching small girls with them it is instantly understandable; these dolls must have been injected with personality, that is the only possible answer, especially since I know that the head of the “Christmas Magic” department has been seen having lunch with the head of our “Small Girls Toys” division not so very long ago, which would account for the fact that I can’t seem to get away from them; they show up in the most unlikely places. I found one on my desk yesterday and am still trying to figure out how she got there.
